A Simple Hola
Sooooooo I am stuck in the basement and just spent 20 minutes reading over a bunch of emails from high school. OK, email was AMAZING in 1999/2000!!! And I can’t believe how many of my friends emailed me from their PARENTS’ email addresses as they did not have their own. That is awesome.
Anyway, email was AMAZING then because no one had micro-or-regular-blogs/Facebook/whatever and in order to communicate, you had to do so individually and on a more lengthy basis, and make an EFFORT. (I’m sure phone calls were like this, but I was only into that in 10th grade. Whatevs.) I emailed almost daily with like 4-5 of my friends and about all kinds of craziness……kind of in-depth (for 18 year olds) conversations too. Weird slash awesome.
(Side note: And yeah, I’m completely COMPLETELY guilty of relying on FB/Twitter for most of my communications these days, and I know that’s sad. But…it is what it is, I guess. Anyway.)
And it was really cool to see the transition from my high school DW friend (Daniel) to my college one (Diana)—I actually got confused about why Daniel would send me an email about leotard catalogs until I realized….DUH!
So yeah. I know a lot of people hated high school but as I’ve said, I kind of had a grand old time. So that was fun. Oh yeah – the reason that I am sequestered in the basement (and forced to miss Amber’s art launch party aaaaaarggggh!!!) is that there are tornadoes appearing all over the STATE right now. WTF??? We’re under a watch and I think they’re dissipating but Jeff as my loving husband does not wish me to go out into possible craziness. Bless his heart.
Well since I’m here…might as well do a little arts and crafts. Adios.
