everything you never wanted to know. about me.

August 8th, 2007

oh govt!

The state of Minnesota just gave me a $339 renter’s refund! HOTT. It’s all the more cherished since I am afraid that next year I will no longer qualify…alas.

The government wants to build a bridge that’s like super duper crazy. I get it, but that kind of frightens me. Shouldn’t we, like, spend any extra money (of which there is none, but that’s another story) on making, um, other bridges safer? Eh?

Anyway.

All of my Speedos are destroyed. As I was telling Angela today, they have come apart at the elastic and now sag and swish all around me when I swim. It’s sad. I might not be able to swim again until I get to Middleton Cycle and Fitness or something. Swimsuits are not cheap!

I went to Jim Lupient Waterpark tonight. It definitely creeped people out, because I have no kids, but it was fun to be there. I hardly swam – too chilly for me (hey, I like it hot) – but it was just really nice to be there. Now it’s storyboard time.

I think this new method of updating (i.e., no quotes) suits me.

    Lexi,
Go look in the stores for swimsuits now! They’re usually on clearance at this point in the summer. I’ve bought Speedo suits at Kohl’s for $30 in August. And is there for real a “Jim Lupient” Waterpark?!? I thought he was a car dealer…
I always loved getting that renter’s refund check in the summer!

Lexi, I had a Speedo CATASTROPHE recently. My Speedo was a little “saggy” when I put it on and it pretty much fell apart as I swam. I had to stop swimming because the swishing was so distracting! I bought a Speedo-like, yet a little cheaper, suit to replace ALL of my old Speedos, as I will never wear a saggy one again. IMO, a $60 bathing suit should NOT disintegrate!

P.S. I’ve had a free Y membership since early July and have only gone swimming twice, including the bathing suit emergency day. Sigh. Motivate me, please! I really want to get back into the habit…

Christie – I never thought of Kohl’s – good call! Thanks man!

Sara – I KNOW it was horrible. Maybe I’ll get a knockoff, because what the heck? I’ve had like five speedos do that to me.

How to motivate you…Google quotes I found!:

-Swimming works your whole body, improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility all at the same time.

-I’ve always found the main benefits to swimming have been psychological. Whilst under water you are away from all the noise and distraction of life on the land. The monotony of the strokes up and down the length of the pool have a sort of medititative quality that can be very calming, and of course there is something soothing about being in water.

-It’s hard to beat swimming when it comes to a sport that builds the body, soothes the mind, regulates breathing, stimulates circulation, and puts no stress on the joints
